This week should go by smoothly. Today we read a story called “Fences”. It is a very interesting story. Lots of conflict. Right now we are on Act Two, Scene two. We found out that Troy has had an affair with another woman and now she is pregnant. Rose(his wife) found out and she was very upset. Troy and Rose have been married for over 18 years, so finding out that her husband cheated, made her world fall apart.

It’s me again
Today was better than yesterday. Today the class came up with a character and we had to create a story. My story is about a 21 year old named Christopher (a.k.a big Chris) who lost his mom to cancer and he had to live with his grandmother. Big Chris also had two kids, a boy and girl. He became a drug dealer so he could make a way for him and his two kids.

Back Again
Today as the same old ,same old. I saw my grade and it could be better. I have a 76, that’s better than a 60 but I refer an A. Today we did some definitions and exercises in our vocabulary book. Progress reports go out tomorrow and right now I’m on a ABC honor roll. I guess that’s ok, as long as it’s not the report card.

Hey, I’m Back
Today was ok-ish. In class, we read another poem by Langston Hughes. The name of the poem was “Harlem”. After reading, Mr. Rease asked the class a question, which was “what happens to a dream deferred”? Deferred means to put off or put something on hold. When a dream is deferred, basically that means that someone has put their dream on hold for a certain reason. The reason could include trouble or a sickness.

Missing in Action
It has been a week since I blogged, and I have some explaining to do. Today, we read some poems by Langston Hughes, an American poet. We read “The Negro Speaks of Rivers,” and “I , too”. Both poems had something to do with the black slaves and what they went through during the 1800s.

Reflection
Yesterday, we learned about semicolons. But today, we learned about commas. I already knew what I need to know about both, but I got more information on them today. We took a short quiz on semicolons and commas; I made a 20/20 on it, which is a 100. For our exit slip, Mr. Rease wanted the class to write a letter to someone we look up too. I wrote about my grandma because she is the reason I stay humble today.

New Year, New Mindset
Today in class, we read a story called “Ambush”. It tells a story about a soldier who killed someone for the first time. As the man was about to kill the enemy, he felt a feeling he never felt before, butterflies. In real life, you have to take risks to protect the people you love and also, yourself. Sometimes, we have to make decisions that aren’t so perfect, but it’s life. Nobody’s perfect. It’s up to you to make a good decision or a bad one.

Introduction
My name is Endia and I am a junior at B.C Rain High School and I take Mr. Rease’s 1st block English class. My expectations for this semester is to get more comfortable with writing. When I was in elementary school, my teachers have always admired me by the way that I write. For fun, I like to draw, watch movies, and play games. I also like playing the tenor drum for our band. This year, I plan on getting better at the things that I do, so I can be successful in life.
